good point prhb. to extend on that i learnt market value is the amount at which something exchanges for between a willing buyer and a willing seller where both parties act prudently, knowledagebly and without compulsion.
The day to day trading of only a minisucre amount of shares in comparison to total on the market gives a skewed percetion of value.
alot of transactions are based on not alot of knowledge and quite a deal of compulsion.
in some instances one person buying or selling a million shares in a hurry can change the market cap millions and millions of dollars
the majority of shares are owned by the top 40 or 50 holders. - If they're not willing to sell at a 1.50 the value of the company is more than 1.50 per share
another good example is if this offer falls through, like other posters have rightfully said there will be a drop in the share price - which in the compulsive selling of knowledge lacking folk will probably present a good buying opportunity before it settles, people think a bit more and price will probably slowly rise.
