My Brother in law lives on the 6th floor of a high rise in Surfers Paradise and spends many months overseas, as do a lot of the other tenants. Just this week he was notified that a burst pipe in the apartment on the floor above had caused extensive flooding in his apartment as well as the apartments on the two floors below before anyone noticed it (ceilings, walls, carpets, furniture, all destroyed). Expensive for everyone including the insurance company. This was not the first time it had happened to him, in fact it has been twice in as many years. Massive water usage in a unit otherwise unoccupied could surely be picked up very quickly by Buddy OHM and much of the damage avoided. What kind of inducements would the insurance company give to apartment blocks that had Buddy OHM installed. Almost as important as having fire sprinklers.
