Avoca's Higginsville gold project on track for June

Development of Avoca Resources Ltd's Higginsville gold project in Western Australia is on track for completion in June, with production expected to commence soon after, the company says.

Construction of the one million tonnes-a-year treatment plant was half complete by the end of December and is expected to be completed within budget.

The company says good progress has been made on key infrastructure construction during the quarter including a 180-person village, various workshops, a 10-megawatt power station and an optic-fibre communications link to Perth.

The emerging gold producer lifted its gold resources at the project by 246,000 ounces, or 23 per cent, to 11.7 million tonnes at 3.6 grams per tonne gold for 1.35 million ounces.

Shares in Avoca were three cents higher to $1.98 at 1410 AEDT.
