NT minister focused on social licence for gas industry after lifting fracking ban.

"Northern Territory gas explorers have been left in no doubt that while the government wants to see onshore gas resources developed, there will be no short-cuts as it puts emphasis on the need for the industry to win a "social licence" and align operations with community values.
Minister for primary industry and resources Ken Vowles told the APPEA oil and gas conference in Adelaide all the groundwork was being done to allow for a resumption of exploration drilling in the NT after the April 26 decision to lift a moratorium on fracking.
Gas explorers such as Origin Energy, Santos and private player Pangaea Resource are keen to get back drilling after the 2018-19 wet season, but the government is still in the early stages of implementing the 135 recommendations from the scientific inquiry into fracking, some of which are required before even exploration can resume.
Mr Vowles said a formal implementation plan on how the recommendations will be acted upon will be released in late July, with the plan being overseen by David Ritchie, the current chairman of the NT Planning Commission who sat on the inquiry panel."
