Britain and Europe are seeing their own reserves run down and more dependency is being created for Russian gas. Being dependent on Russia for anything is not a good look for about a dozen good reasons. This looks like a more reliable source of supply than a lot- from a sovereign risk point of view. Look what happened to Shell with its huge investment in Sakahalin. Hi, said the spider to the fly, step right into my web...but this gas might be going to the US west coast. US oil is running down too. The US is proving up a lot of CSG in their eastern coal seams- more than we have done yet by a large margin-much more money for exploration.
