Looking back over historical mobile ARPU's, im not sure what the fuss was about.
I think what really happened is the market panicked about TPG's entry and it now has a builtin risk margin.
TPG are a smart players who can run on low costs, but they also have a history of talking up a storm, they did have plans to rollout their own FTTB network too 500,000 premises prior to the NBN Tax, which spured NBNCo into action, they now cover 115k apartment and have 45k subscribers.
TPG's mobile plans where set in motion prior to the mobile roaming decision, which went against them, and they still say they aim for 80% coverage, but perhaps they wont get out of the inner city. There was also talk they might try and use mobile for an alternative last mile fixed broadband. Hardware providers say they cant reach that coverage on their budget. I will be surprised if they even cause competition concern for VHA in the next 5 years.
