One of the reasons for a spike in the price of BEN towards the end of 2007 could be put down to the merger with Adelaide. When the merger went through the company weighting in the ASX100 increased which resulted in funds who track the market having to increase their holding in BEN. As most of these funds didn't think of this in advance, there was a rush to do so which resulted in a price spike.
