Hi all
Interesting discussion
I have an SMSF and my reasons are the following
Control and the ability to buy across large to micro caps. The ability it buy and sell at my set return targets. The asset class flexibility of holding 0-100% in whatever I choose . The ability to back my calls heavily . The ability to hold onto to stocks for the very long term, the secret to having a few ten baggers over 2-3 decades. The ability to enter and exit positions with the best possible price in mind . The lower cost profile the higher the value goes. My SMSF cost me less than .3% to manage this year due to the fact I am self directed , use a discount broker and thus only pay accounting fees. These fees are lower than any super fund out there ( 30% of aussuper) and they will continue to fall if I can l continue to grow my fund balance. The ability to run a super concentrated portfolio with 2-8 stocks has seen my value grow by just under 400% since I started it in 2008 . ( I have had a few losses in that time )
