Haha this is an amazing reply. I am actually a heavy vehicle and machinery specialized auto electrician and have worked on many road base sites throughout Queensland/ central QLD and also central NSW.. I have dealt with a lot of the operators and laborers on site and I think it's safe to say that there is only usually 1 guy on site that knows what he is really doing. The rest of them are usually just "brut". I'm also guessing like you said that the roads would not have to be up to 4 lane highway standard. So the initial road profiling and prep work would be a lot less. Also in regards to road surfacing, do people not realize that a lot of highways all the way through Australia are actually dirt.? These roads carry road trains and machinery on them all day everyday and yet still manage fine??
