The Tanzanian Mining Commission has issued 5,108 primary mining and prospecting licences with a caution that whoever violated the agreed regulations would have their licences revoked.
Commission chairman, Professor Idris Kikula, said the licences had been granted to those who submitted applications before July 4, 2017.

He said that at least 1,142 primary mining licences would be given to applicants within seven days because they had already paid for certificate preparation fees, while the remaining 3,252 would get the documents after completing payments in 28 days.
Moreover, 399 brokers and 150 mining dealers had been issued with one-month licences. Kikula said they would be required to renew their licences by July this year.
Mining licences have been issued to eight companies. He said seven other companies had to resolve pending disputes first before applying for new licences.
