"G8 will be known as the people that parents and policy makers prefer to partner with in nurturing and inspiring the next generation" said GC. It would be fairly safe to assume, that policy makers would be looking towards providers who offer families and children early learning services nationally. G8, at this point in time, are not a national provider. Statements offered regarding the lack of children in Tasmania and the challenges and expense of operating a service in The Northern Territory as the reason G8 do not provide early learning in those states, would IMO be viewed as non inclusive by policy makers.
I find some of the wording and ideas regarding benefits for parents quite concerning. Examples:
Care for children to free up time to enable parents to go to work
Maybe : ensure that all of our centres offer flexible operational hours that reflect the needs of our families.
Information and support to enable parents to be better parents
Maybe : support and work in partnership with parents/caregivers to navigate the developmental and emotional challenges they may encounter with their children during the early years.
The idea of offering parents access to exclusive deals is IMO a risk. Don't underestimate the understanding that parents have of what quality early learning should be. Trivialising that by offering discounts from suppliers, (probably EE would be one of them) is irrelevant to families.
Refreshing that GC is acknowledging the struggles and challenges facing early learning centres. Previously everything was reported as; crystallising, holistic, organic and more than well equiped.
Addressing quality and staff retention will go a long way to improving occupancy. I think the dates given for improving quality are ambitious but happy to be proved wrong.
Some of the posts on Twitter are referring to this CEO connect as delusional. I both agree and disagree with some of the comments made by GC. He is, by his own admission thinking like a retailer, but that will change, and hopefully, with that, both quality and occupancy will improve.
