Yes there is still an active volcano, it depends on all sorts as to whether you can see it.
You can catch a plane to the Big Isle then a helicopter will take you there but it is pricey. I just did the one hour trip around Ohau, it was fantastic, but I find the tour operators appear sick to death of their jobs, maybe they can go and sample alongside a drill rig in the hot desert sun and I will take their place. Humans so easily lose sight of perspective dont they.
Still cant beat the swim with the dolphins
