SCANDIUM RISING
Two years ago I went looking for scandium speculations and found CLQ.
I was not tuned into battery materials. But when the CLQ Sunrise project morphed into a nickel-cobalt
project, I became aware of this sector, and CLQ held my interest even though scandium was put onto the
back burner.
I "forgot" about the scandium. CLQ even declined to include it in their forecasts and plans
for Sunrise. A few people noticed; Fozza, for example, looked at the scandium potential of CLQ and
couldn't wrap his mind around it. He started a thread "$13.20" valuation", which I got a kick out
of...someone else had also noticed.
But lately, scandium is rising again in my thinking.
In my opinion, it is re-emerging as a stealth investment opportunity that is likely to have explosive
impact on the resources who are in position to deliver it.
Our attention is taken up by the immediate opportunities in nickel and cobalt. And there are lots of other futures to talk about: water and vanadium, for example.
But revisiting scandium: What do we see ?
We see a metal with only about a dozen tons annual production, with no primary mines.
We see elasticity of price, because only small percentages of scandium are needed to give great benefit in aluminum alloys.
We see potential uptake in transportation applications that, for the near future, is unlimited for practical intents and purposes.
We see a metal with with known metallurgy and technology, and a robust international user base of potential customers.
We see a research agreement between CLQ and leading universities and manufacturers.
We see a world expert in scandium on the staff of CLQ, working with a subsidiary of a Chinese state aluminum company, to research applications of scan-alu alloys.
We see the leader of CLQ developing relationships with primary potential users that include aviation, aeropace, and transportation.
And we see a mining project about to be launched, that will be producing scandium oxide in quantities that are greater than the present entire world consumption.
This is a lot of time and attention for a metal with annual consumption of 10 tons. It really makes no sense. No sense at all.
Unless...unless one intends to be producing a lot of scandium in the very near future.

Loving cobalt and nickel and platinum. Water purification, too. And vanadium will be good someday.
But scandium could be the best of all.
Nobody wants to pay anything for it right now.
What analyst or investor is going to pay attention to a metal with only 10 tons annual production ?
