    I think a merger is highly likely but it could still be quite some time away.

    Really depends on when the tax losses are utilised from them making further capital gains in the portfolio. But if markets continue trending up then maybe it can be be done within the next year or so. If the portfolio value heads lower then any merger may be put off for a while.
