A good analogy ... and the odds are probabbly about right ... but since when do we spend say $1-50k on a lottery ticket lol?
I look to speccies as an opportunity with an outcome ranging from a 50% loss to a 1000% gain ... you only have to get it right several times in a lifetime to make a difference.
And most importantly, we all feel we have the smarts to research at least to some degree before buying a speccie and therefore we have some "control" over an outcome that we dont with a lottery ticket.
Speccies have to be deeply ingrained in the Aussie psyche of having a punt ... the thinking persons punt lol.
