Can anyone offer insight to the effectiveness and merits of various fertilisers ... oil/gas derived ammonia/nitrate ... mined potash ... mined phosphate ... and any other majors?
Are the ammonia/nitrate based fertilisers the the only substantial manufactured fertiliser? Are any of the above fertiliser classes better or more commonly used than the other?
If potash and phosphate fertilisers are mined and finite and ammonia/nitrate based fertilisers are tied to fossil fuels (oil/gas and syngas from coal gasification) then, investment opportunities aside, it may be a grim scenario for future food production?
