Apart from DRC governance and political stability, it's all about transport costs. Klaus's earlier success in the DRC was Moto. Now developed and one of the biggest and richest gold mines in the world. It's located in the far north east of DRC in a very unstable part of the world. But if you are dealing with high value product such as gold (or diamonds) you can fly the product out. And hire a security force.
If you are dealing with a bulk mineral product, the transport cost is the key. So obviously 100 kilometres from Pt Headland in WA is better than x thousand kilometres from the coast in central Africa.
So if you have the world's biggest spodumene lithium deposit at Manono, it's worth trying very hard to sort an economic transport route to the coast and beyond. Can AVZ do that? That's the billion dollar question and at the moment the market is saying no.
