Wouldn't be surprised if all the "cobalt-free battery" publications scared off some investors, recently. Which if you read into it, isn't a zero Co battery, it's actually just a PROPOSED reduced Co battery.
Natural market adjustment for a bull commodity.
Quite obviously it's nearly up since this time last year, and moving north as countries continue to confirm more Co deals, lock-in mines for future EV development, and we continue to see a surge of vehicle companies announce they're changing 'x' amount of their fleet to EV by 2020 - 2025 . All IMO.
Evidence is there. It's an expensive commodity companies want down. You can't blame them. But, it has its place because thermal stabilisation is key. You can reduce the Co content, but you are just going to compromise stability and longevity. No car company in their right mind would want to take that risk ATM (maybe in the future) unless further validation is prepared - which as far as I am aware, it hasn't been.
I have attached a diagram that summarises this.
