''What leads you to think that mystics would have as their only goal acquisition of information about the world in the same way that science does ?
Is the aim of a weightlifter or gymnast or musician to acquire information about the world ? The only information of interest is mostly confined to what is needed to achieve their specific aim.''

Mystics are able to do what they like. That is their business. If they feel they are transcending the physical world during their meditations....well, that's interesting, and if they tell us what it's like in the seventh level of the astral world, well and good, nothing like a good yarn to brighten the day.....but if their descriptions of the astral realm are claimed to be more than lucid dream states, lucid mental activity where anything is possible, where anything can happen, then it needs to be shown that, yes indeed, these are objective experiences, the mystics are entering into 'higher realms' - and in order to show that requires verifiable information, verifiable information being evidence that these experiences are indeed objective experiences rather than lucid dreams (which can feel absolutely real)
