i don't think you can overlook the wheels have fallen off the train because of :

1) subprime issues

2) credit squeeze

3) high energy costs

thats just a couple of problems, the U.S have beeb robbing Peter to pay Paul for sometime. sooner or later it was going to catch up too them.
