So either the Voluntary Administrators cut all access to preserve records or something or someone else, possibly maliciously, cause the systems to become inaccessible.
Probably not the VA's as usually they would want to the business to continue "as a going concern" and wouldn't hamstring it as they are trying to sell it.
The other possibility would be ASIC or the like cutting off access.
Although I'd say that whoever left the building took the passwords with them.
Hopefully the investigators get some computer forensics involved just in case.
All IMO of course.
