In recent weeks Verizon (Syntonic's main source of revenue) has dropped its plans for developing its own OTT platform (which many here speculated would be based on the Syntonic CSP) and changed out their CEO to one that is focused on an aggressive 5G roll out.
It looks a lot like Verizon are going back top basics; rolling out new infrastructure that will give them a competitive edge over their rivals. Rather than becoming the next big content company. Just because they have all the Yahoo brands doesn't mean they have to be a content company. What they have done however, is take the brands off the table from their competitors.
This time last year Syntonic was all about OTT and Overpass was the disruptive tech that would change the game. Moreover, they raised 5M on the ASX to "capture the opportunity". However, I think we can safely say that Overpass for consumers is is dead, all social media has ceased (since February), there has been no company updates relating to Overpass, downloads are still sub 1M and now their CMO has moved on. IMO the company owes Shareholders an honest update regarding this part of the business.
With regards to Dataflex, how has a full to overflowing pipeline tuned into 1 re-seller deal in Turkey? Has the market sentiment changed towards split billing? Or did Syntonic simply overstate the amount of inbound inquires they had relating to the product.
Now,.. its all about roaming....
On a more positive note; Net Neutrality has been officially scrapped as of Today. This was listed as one of the main threats to the Syntonic Business in the US and could potentially open doors for the company given Telcos can invest in the tech without the shadow of NN looming over the it.
In this next webinar, I think the company has a lot of explaining to do regarding their direction.
