    In my (unprofessional) opinion, the retracement of $CAN can be directly attributed to the following 2 factors;
    1. Disappointment of buyout not eventuating (as you correctly stated), particularly when you consider that the AFR provided a lofty figure of $4.50 in investors minds (where this figure was plucked from is anybody's guess). To be honest, I was actually quite surprised to see $CAN hold the $3.50+ mark for as long as it did before commencing this downtrend.
    2. Disappointment in the wake of the recent Canadian Government's C-45 legislation result (not passed and requiring further discussion). This tied in with the fact that $ACB (Aurora) SP, and the majority of the other Canadian Cannabis companies, took a substantial hit ($ACB -10% since the event). $ACB obviously has a direct relation to $CAN, being a large shareholder + recent takeover talks (refer point 1).

    When considering the aforementioned points, coupled with the fact that NO SIGNIFICANT NEWS has been released (if you remove the takeover bid from the equation), then it's not really any surprise to see the SP take a dive to previous low levels.

    My 2cents,
