Wasn't planning on posting on this non-event, but since you asked, I'm happy to oblige. Not sure I can give you 40 pages though! Just my honest opinion!
The announcement is very well crafted. Hats off Sophie. Not smoke and mirrors but an 'interesting' new way of presenting things!
I fail to see why it is 'market sensitive', that was also factored in when the share price was at 1.6c to 1.7c. The market reaction today seems to confirm that view.
The title avoids the mention of iStream and simply says "
Indosat Streaming Platform", very subtle nuance but also very telling.
Then it says "
Indosat is delivering 2018 World Cup content over IP in partnership with KLIX and Visinesia, the World Cup 2018 exclusive internet broadcaster licence holder. The sporting content will be available through the iStream mobile app suite and on all other connected devices via web browser." That says it all. No need to be a wizard to figure it out.
It says IP (Internet Protocol) will be used by iStream, not any other specific mobile protocol like RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) that one would expect a dedicated app to use.
That is to say that anyone with a web browser, any browser on desktops and laptops, Safari on iPhone or iPad, or Chrome on Android devices can view the WC on KlixTV through the Indosat network. All their customers can watch the WC regardless of whether they have iStream or not. That iStream is offering a pass-thru over IP to KlixTV is no major feat. It is technically so underwhelming and frankly not doing iStream any justice. If you download Firefox, Opera or even Puffin on your iOS or Android to access KlixTV you will get exactly what you will be getting through iStream. Basically it's just like a frame around a TV. That may explain why they didn't make a big fuss about it when they announced the signature of the contract, because they knew then what they announced today.
That also explains why Indosat hasn't updated its website and is happy with anyone using any browser or device to access KlixTV as long as it is through its network. Their web site still says "
Watch All Live World Cup Matches In Your Smartphone IM3 Ooredoo Balance via KlixTV.com", they aren't even saying through iStream. Even if consumers went through iStream, they still have to pay KlixTV the same fee. So basically no revenue to Indosat other than revenue from network usage and some exposure during the WC. To me, that explain why Klix would agree to such deal, more money for them and no risk.
The rest of the announcement is clearly positioning iStream's future beyond the WC, which is what one would expect anyway.
Then come the words that scare me and make me wonder if these guys have any clue what they're talking about: "User Generated Content"!. I would humbly suggest that TV2U go talk to one of their most successful competitors (the one with a growth rate of 50% year on year for example) and find out why no one is going anywhere near UGC. Also, look at the CrowdSpark (CSK) forum on HC and see how they are faring and how successful their UGC is competing with YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, et al. I would also suggest that they stop wasting money and stick to their core business and make that one work first. When they make millions they can then go play with anything else that excites them.
I asked myself why bother with two announcements? The first one obviously didn't achieve the expected results, unfortunately neither did the second. The two announcements were factored in by the market. If TV2U was hoping for a surge before a potential CR then they have to revisit their plans.
The only announcement that may affect the SP beyond what it is at now is something silly called "revenue".
I know many are making a big fuss over the WC, fair enough, to each his or her thing! I am looking beyond the WC, to when TV2U has revenue generating content distributed through its platform. I expect the Annual Report to be underwhelming and the two things I'll be looking for are the September Quarterly and how Indosat promotes iStream.
Am I being unfair towards TV2U? I don't believe so. Sometimes one has to shake the tree to get the fruit
I hope they read what I am writing and hopefully show us some fruits soon.
That may not be what you or others want to read, but this is my reading and my personal opinion. Of course, you can disagree with it completely.
Enjoy the WC, if the rest is anything like last night it will be a real thrill
