Thanks @Dakoda, I was not aware of that. I read the article on the link you posted. It seems to be the same or a similar problem: "authentication issue in the servers controlling the app".

I will try to find out what their platform architecture looks like (no harm in asking!). I think there are many independent servers involved, the authentication server, the payment gateway, the OTT platform, etc. and a problem with one ripples to the others. Optus app is also available on Android, iOS, Apple TV, and (apparently) on Samsung Smart TV and on networks they don't control. Would be interesting to find out the traffic flow between them.
