The problem with new technical traders is that they don't know how to use TA as a tool.

Give a kid an angle grinder and it's bound to end up messy.

The No. 1 mistake with neophyte technical traders is that they seek to find the answers in the present and immediate price action alone, when what they should be doing is looking back weeks and months to find the subtle hints that players are taking positions and then wait for the right time. Price, volume and TIME.

If you know what to look for, it becomes glaringly obvious when you see it, and it happens time and time again. It's hard to deny the existence of a wolf after having seen the tracks in the snow.

OBV - used it years ago, but probably never saw what you see in it. Started messing around with CMF and spotted some interesting anomalies. Tracked down the formulae for it and modified it and backtested it (for hours every night for months) until I was satisfied that it offered some edge. It's not perfect, but it's just another tool in the toolbox.

If you get time, throw up a few example charts of where you've used OBV to make a trading decision so I can see what you're looking at. I'll put my CMF on the same charts and post, as I'm curious to see if they give similar signals.
