Please note - I didn't say that Buffett would short anything.

I brought up something he said which suggests he believes short selling may in fact serve a useful social purpose.

Here's exactly what he said:

2006 - Q&A at Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting.

An excerpt:

"Question: What do you think about naked short selling?

"WB: As you know, we have a friend who's been outspoken on naked shorting. I don't have a great problem with it. If anyone wants to do that with Berkshire, more power to 'em. ...

"Companies with a large short interest very often have been revealed as frauds or semi-frauds ..."

So - if he says it - I'll use it to back up an argument.

As a person with very clear and strong views about most things on the stock market and a great track record both financially and ethically - he is worth listening to.
