Kerry needs to be a bit more careful with his terminology.
Earth's atmosphere is getting hotter. But the planet itself is inexorably becoming very slowly cooler. The lava in the earths core has been cooling down for 4 billion years and the actions of radioactivity in "hot" granites and the effect of the sun and the greenhouse effect do not offset this.
In fact GDY by facilitating the extraction of heat from deep in the ground and the discharge of most of that heat as waste heat from their turbines into the atmosphere will be contributing directly to warming the atmosphere.
