I listened to a previous Mexican Presidents comments on Freakonomics. The hypothetical question was 'why dont we merge the US and Mexico'.
The idea is that they have the young work force and the US has most of the rest. Win win sort of argument.
The President said it wont work because the countries would lose their culture. In Australia, he would be called a racist by the wacky left. They wouldn't have the guts to call a Mexican President racist because that would make them racist.
What it does show us is that there are real concerns about cultural identity and the loss of it because of immigration into any country. Immigration makes a lot of sense in many ways, but the current system is questionable. Japan is one of the few countries that keeps it in check and yet no one calls them racist. Their culture means more to them than anything and one of the main reasons they still have a strong cultural identity. No politician in that country would dare think otherwise. The only thing the left want to sacrifice is all of us.
The left think that the Australian public and their culture does not matter. They think Aboriginal culture matters more (does nothing about it of course and ignores the abuses) and yet white culture does not matter over immigration. This is lunacy of course.
This push in the US has created Trump and the exact opposite outcome they wanted. I guess you get that when you force an ideology onto people and ignore their concerns. Rudd and Gillard were fired for it and yet Albo needs to learn the hard way. Europe is going through hell at the moment and yet it wont get better. More right wing govts will be elected in response. If Labor every got returned, the govt wouldn't last a term and Shorten certainly wont. They will screw the budget and this up like clockwork.
