Have you had a look at NAV?

It has been doing little for about six months (actually fallen in price), but has some 950,00 ounces of near surface gold (JORC compliant I believe). It also has a rare earths deposit that looks promising. It has Mr Healy as a major investor, who has made a mint on PDN.

I have to agree with you that finding a good goldie is very difficult. On average I have about broken even on them so far.

However, I do expect over time the gold price to go much higher and the appreciation of the $A to be far outweighed by the rise in the gold price. Therefore I will continue to speculate in goldies. Besides NAV I can not find anything that I have any real confidence, although I do hold a few MDL (to start producing later this year, I think), and PRE (a total spec with land next to NAV) that has had a few good results but no JORC resource defined.

Other hotcopperites keep raving on about MON, CTO, EXM and CQT (among others), but I am not yet convinced by what I have read. May be I am wrong.

Well done on escaping with most of your dough. Its good that you woke up and took action, even if it was painful. I sometimes get a bit mesmerised by my shares, but fortunately this was not the case with my VRE shares.
