i might be wrong but margin lending is a two way street

you can use it to buy shares

but you can also use it to extract value from shares to

avoid cgt

i'm not suggesting this was the principal behind this

but if you're share go up in value you can use a margin

loan to extract cash buy ferrari bigger house scholl fees

etc etc

until it comes back to bight you on the bum
