I think much of this is rubbish. These '200 day moving averages' mean nothing when the business is basically a con and gets suspended from trade. One day you're above the moving average, them BAM - suspended!

People can avoid disasters like RFG and BIG by simply doing some research. Like I've said here before, if you simply contacted 10-20 random businesses BIG produced videos for and asked how much they paid for it, you'd have realised that the cashflow being stated by BIG was flakey at best.

Similarly with RFG, I only saw retirees getting their coffee and cake from Michel's patisserie (seniors discount at some). Their menu has not changed from 10+ years ago. No product innovation, no fancy coffee beans or cake... yet all the new independents nearby are smashing it, selling stuff for more for greater margins and getting much more turnover at the same time.

Analysing a business often means you need to step away from the books and to really give the business model a real world test. It doesn't always have to mean that you yourself must like and be willing to pay for what they sell - but who else is buying their stuff and is that customer group growing? In BIG's case, very few were paying up. In RFG's case, it's mostly seniors with old habits buying up... and they're a group that is dying off.
