i have the norman conquest paperback I have read the same paperback over and over--about 6 to 7 times--it is a fantastic tale--Harold would have won--the only thing was he was fighting a battle of two fronts--he had to meet---Harold Hadradada--up to the north of England--then once he did that--he then had to march his troops down to the south --pervensey--to meet William--who was crossing the channel--he just made a few tactical errors--otherwise (looking at it)--William wouldn't have won.
The Saxons--had a very efficient--thing called a shield wall--certain formations that were hard to break--hence the idea of lobbing the arrows up in the air.
