So if I live & work in the US I pay US tax; if I trade there from offshore I don’t pay US tax. Is that your understanding?
Sorry, but my written information from the ATO is that I would not pay any Australian tax on earnings in Asia, provided I was at the time living in a country with a double tax treaty with Australia – that includes Australia-sourced income such as ASX share trading. There’s been no mention of making a declaration on returning to Australia.
Shelf company – where? Australia? Offshore?
