This is exactly right. They don't see it that way at all I suspect as in their minds, all mining is bad.. NIMBY mentality. With any solution against climate change, it must take an enterprise that is of course going to make money off it regardless of what that is, wind turbines, solar panels, etc, etc, etc. This is just another one, and they can't see the bigger picture.
Even so, it must be dealt with, it is simply figuring out the best course of action to get through that barrier. I think the uncertainty will be laid to rest soon enough, on the merits of the project and the studies already laid out. It'll just take time, but there are some who will never be convinced.
