Thus far, MB, I haven't been able to connect KCI and KC Industry to the same chaebol. Nor have I been able to conclude they aren't so connected (it's far from transparent, very much an insiders' caper).

Irrespective of the yay or nay, Sth Korean (and Japanese, FTM) industry structures are way more connected by functions, than we here are familiar with here.

I have dealt with the Japanese (product and production processes), and I was struck by the networks of function co-dependencies, with or without all the mobs in the network being in the same (or any) keiretsu.

The Japanese held Sth Korea in a very firm grip for a long time, and many of the commercial structures in Sth Korea are legacies of that control.
