if you are using windows, then perhaps try using a browser such as the "Offbyone" browser for some of your web browsing. it does not have javascript, or whatever else that full featured browsers have. having said that, it has been a long time since watso has tried the browser. it certainly would not be suitable for hotmail. watso uses the "dillo " (linux) for a lot of internet browsing - and that is good for yahoo mail - but no good for hotmail (which needs java something or the other)
maybe try firefox, and use "flashblock" as an extension - that might also work - and then in preferences choose your appropriate settings
