As long as you hold up to & including the record date you can sell afterwards & still retain the right to purchase in the SPP.
I did precisely that earlier this year when they did a SPP at 4.7c (I think). Sold after the record date for 6ish then bought my allocation for 4.7c. Thought I was bloody clever until the price went up over 10!
