Well what have we achieved?
DJIA up 75 pts so we have fixed the US credit woes - great - I just wish the Peacock/Scott problem was just as easy!
As I see it Peacock must have a strong determination to get MFS back on its feet. Why else would he hang about wasting his time with a wreck of a company? I feel grateful for that because I believe he can do the job better than anyone.
17 years as a Govt Minister, and 5 years as Head of Boeing Australia (with over 2800 employees) should qualify him for that.
I agree he may not be the business whiz kid some think is needed but hell he has a Board under him for that and what he has to do is to MANAGE the Board in the best possible way. He is perfectly capable of that. And he must have the confidence of the present Board too. I don't see any problem there.
What I would like to know is what the problem is between Peacock and Scott. (BB can you ask what the exact problem is between them?)
That needs to be raised, sorted, and put behind them so they (and us) can move on. I want to know why Scott can't join the existing Board. I find people with good ideas, smart people, have a knack of working with anyone. So I don't think there is any reason why Scott can't join the Board. Peacock may not want him right now, but if the past issue(s) is sorted out, and Scott really does have good ideas (we have yet to see any...) Peacock I am sure will allow him to join. Peacock is smart enough for that - we just don't need the whole Scott camp.
(I don't think the very tetchy Hutson helps Scott's case - better to leave her at home!)
Anyway these are the sorts of issues I'll be talking with
people about at the upcoming EGM. Perhaps I'll find some answers there.
