Previously, Mr Krishnapillai worked with the former government telco regulator AUSTEL and has been involved with the Competitive Carriers Coalition, the Australian Communications Industry Forum and the Australian Service Provider's Association.
His appointment follows a disappointing half-yearly result for Optus in February, when the telco posted slower than expected revenue growth and it slipped to third place - behind Hutchinson and Vodafone - in the mobile market.
