Cell phones require cellular towers, which connect with varying (and often disappearing) signal strength. ... Satellite phones don't rely on a terrestrial cell phone network. Instead, they beam their data directly to and from satellites orbiting Earth. We are going to be using satellites kid, not cellular towers. Why don't you google 'how do satellite phones work' and educate yourself. I could be in a field with no cellular tower for 500km and still make a phone call with a sat phone.
