With IGO shutting the Long underground mine at Kambalda the concentrator crusher, grinding, flotation, thickner circuit would now he sitting idle. IGO and WSA supply a already processed concentrate which is blended on site for rail to the smelter.
Losing Long lessen the amount of concentrate available to the smelter and refinery. BHP are supposed to be ramping up production especially from Apr19 for first Ni sulphate production from the refinery.
This you would assume put MCR in the box seat for negs.
And with BHP stepping up efforts for a sale ,see below you would think they need to shore up all the raw ore and concentrate they can get their hands on to make a more attractive sale option.
They are limited to ramp up with their own ore as Mt Keith is such low grade with about half blended with Leinster to send to the smelter and the rest going out to Esperance to europe for processing and Leinster running fairly towards peak already.
