even at the long term price of $1500/kg that is still $1.3 billion worth of ore sitting there ready to be dug up with the nickle and cobalt. The ground is probably going to be dug up anyway so it just adds to the profit if you recover it. assuming a mine life of 10 years (probably over estimate given the size and depth) even if it costs $100 mill/year to recover that's 30 mill profit/year.
it definitely will help out the finances of the project.
