Oh Boy, An interesting concept indeed. I wish I had these kinds of ideas when I was 20.

I would like to offer an alternative concept and ask for opinions:

Let’s say one owns (fully paid) ~$1 Million house, which is sold. The money is put into 3 apartments, a $100k mortgage is also taken on each (for negative gearing). The apartments are rented out and one lives off the proceeds.

    Advantages:

    • Reliable income with negative gearing.
    • Freedom to travel and live in any part of the World.
    • Income increases with inflation (rents rise).
    • Live in one of the vacant apartments when one returns ‘home’.
    • Gain from property price increases.
    • Not subject to interest rate drops and inflation.
