Oh Boy, An interesting concept indeed. I wish I had these kinds of ideas when I was 20.
I would like to offer an alternative concept and ask for opinions:
Let’s say one owns (fully paid) ~$1 Million house, which is sold. The money is put into 3 apartments, a $100k mortgage is also taken on each (for negative gearing). The apartments are rented out and one lives off the proceeds.
Advantages:
• Reliable income with negative gearing. • Freedom to travel and live in any part of the World. • Income increases with inflation (rents rise). • Live in one of the vacant apartments when one returns ‘home’. • Gain from property price increases. • Not subject to interest rate drops and inflation.
