They could have drill 9-12 holes for the same cost of 3 if they had used RC. How much would those additional holes have expanded the mineralised footprint/knowledge?
Before anyone starts on about needing the drilling to be diamond for the structural information, have a good look at the geometry in Figure 2, the mineralisation is pretty linear, albeit with a break. That is a relatively simple geometry as far as deposits go.
