A couple of things here:
When it comes to negotiations with big pharma, you need to show a healthy company. If you dont they pounce on weakness and try to drive you to accepting a lesser offer. They also want to be able to trust the people they are dealing with (despite them being rats themselves).

What sort of feeling would you get on the buyer side seeing a group of managers whom have dived into the trough clearly solely for themselves and pulled funds away from the kitty for loans to themselves?

It reeks of weakness to me. Hardly a sign that they'll hang tough for the best deal for their shareholders. More likely to show they'll bail when their personal agendas are filled. Its a bad look.

So ralom, the share price is going up. It would probably be up further if their focus wasnt so diverted to looking after themselves.
