Not only that, In HTW's design blood is drawn through the centre of the device and forced out by centrifugal forces through narrow channels in the rotor, which then has to travel on average half way around the outer circumference to the outlet. A lot of fast movement through narrow passages means more damage to blood cells.
VCR's design is superior.
