My memory is a little vague but I think they tried to get a permit to do just this. There is a clear law on the books in AU that prohibits the return. The law was not aimed at Lynas. It was done to prevent the return of waste from other product that was being mined and exported. So this would have to be changed at the legislative level. I rember this from before the comisioning of LAMP I when all this came up the first time.
