As the veins are narrow, the stopes need to be as narrow as possible to keep dilution to a minimum. They can keep the height to under a meter by using the scoop, it needs to be almost two meters to get a bobcat or bogger in. They basically put a drive in, eg level 5 then remove the ore from between the drives, level 5 and level 4 with the scoop with gravity on there side leaving the waste behind.
