This smells, even to a long- term Liberal supporter. Either way, the optics support the view that Turnbull didn't have a the slightest understanding of the likely political response to his decisions. It would appear, as Chris Kenny suggests elsewhere in today's Australian, [like John F Kennedy] he surrounded himself with, and chose to be guided by, like-minded individuals [many in the press] who stroked his ego and shielded him from reality. I sincerely hope this matter is fully investigated and that he is held to account. He may well yet pay a higher price than losing the Prime Ministership and, if found wanting, deservedly so.
